While Friday dawned cold and blustery, Don and I were snug in our suite at the Avila Parador, but we were anxious to press on. After working our business for about an hour or two, the Parador made an incredible breakfast for us. One of the local specialities is a sort-of tomato salsa/jam that you spread on some local bread along with the local jamon (ham). Yummy.
We've read about the famous black pigs of Castilla y Leon, so we took a detour – a traditional farm that raises the famous
black–footed pigs. They are so CUTE!
Remember... Don travel's almost completely on his stomach... so were are definately here to sample great food and wine, which, of course, this area is known for.....
So... pressing on... WE'RE OFF TO CELEBRATE DON'S BIRTHDAY IN PORTUGAL!
